Our story

Named after
one word.
بسيط — simple.

A barber with one chair and a mirror, and the kid whose hair he’d cut since he was 11. Mo made the products. Ibby built the audience. BSSET is what happened when 16M+ followers kept asking the same questions.

Early days at the barbershop — Mo filming a fresh cut for the socials
The barber & the kid in the chair

It started in a Derby barbershop

Mo had been cutting Ibby’s hair since Ibby was 11 years old. Both Sudanese — one born there, one raised in the UK — they clicked, and when Mo opened his own shop, all he had was one chair and a mirror. His clients followed him anyway. So did Ibby.

Ibby told him to get on social media. Mo was too busy cutting, so Ibby set up the account himself: Mo sent photos, Ibby posted them. Then came the videos — ideas together, Mo on camera, Ibby editing and learning exactly how the algorithm worked. One skit went viral, and the machine never stopped: free haircuts in the streets, videos far beyond the barbershop, 16M+ followers and 10 billion views. These days, some of football’s biggest names sit in that same chair.

And the comments kept asking the same two questions: “How do I make my hair look like that?” and “What product was that?”

It was never meant to be a business. I was just helping my mate out.
Ibby · Co-founder

The comments told them everything: men were confused about hair products, and they wanted something simple that actually works. Mo knew hair from the chair. Ibby knew the audience. They answered the question with a product of their own.

The name
بسيط
Pronounced BAH-seat · Arabic for “simple”

Simple isn’t a compromise. It’s the whole point.

The answer to the comments became a brand, named after the word Mo lives by. Every BSSET product is built to his standard: works fast, works on your hair type, no 10-step routine — and it only gets made if our audience and Mo’s clients actually ask for it.

What we believe

Three rules we don’t break

01

Style with confidence

Products that hold all day and look natural doing it — no crunch, no grease.

02

Keep it simple

One product, applied in seconds. If it needs a tutorial, it doesn’t leave the lab.

03

Audience-built

We’re not just a curly-hair brand — straight, wavy, curly, coily. If our audience asks for it, Mo builds it.
